The Stand by Stephen King

pages 54 - 156
One of the men who was at the gas station at the begining of the book is now being held in a building in Atlanta, having research done on him to see why he is immune to the virus. The cold like symptoms turned out to be a huge virus that has been wiping out populations across the country and things are starting to get chaotic and less organized as society tries to cope. The girl who is pregnet ends up burying her father who died because of the virus, and finds that her and another boy, who she hates, are the only people left in town, and they decide to work together to head for a place in canada. The man being held captive kills the man who is experimenting on him and escapes. He walks until he finds a man who has a reasonable ammount of supplies and is living out his days with his dog in the country. The man joins him for the time being while they discuss ideas on what the world is coming too.
